Sample Task Three

Sample Task #3: Translating Animal Sentences

This sample task demonstrates the prompt/ response feature. In tasks of this type, participants are presented with a prompt and respond by typing in their answer. Popular tasks using this feature usually involve a translation activity, where participants are given a sentence in one language and asked to translate it into another by typing into a textbox.

The step-by-step guide below provides instructions on how to build the “Translating Animal Sentences" task found in the EXAMPLE PROJECT.

Create New Task

TASK FORM: The following image shows the information entered and selections made in the new task form in Create A Project. You can later edit this form by selecting the “Edit Task” link found under the Task Name in your Project.

ADD DATASET: Choose the name for the dataset and upload a tab delimited manifest and the media files for the task. In this task there are sentences that appear in the manifest under the “Prompt” column.

Since there are no additional files for this task, and the manifest has all the data needed, attach the manifest where it says “Manifest File” and “Data Files”.

MANIFEST: Here is the manifest used for this task. Note: this is just an image; the actual manifest must be a tab delimited file (.tsv or .txt).

CREATE TOOL FORM: Here are the specific sections made in the tool form to create this particular tool. Many of the selectable features can be added to any tool depending on the needs of the task.

To see the task in action, go to the EXAMPLE PROJECT and select “Start Now” to bring up a list of tasks. Select the “Start Now” or “Continue” button for the task “Translating Animal Sentences."
